General Health and Wellness
Acupuncture is a wonderfully effective way to support your physical, mental and emotional well-being.  Patients find that their symptoms begin to shift within the first couple of treatments, and they feel better in general.  Their emotional and physical resilience improves, so they are more able to deal with all that life throws at us.

Preparing to Conceive
Preconception
Women:  A 3 month cycle of weekly treatments is recommended prior to trying to conceive to regulate the stages of the menstrual cycle and affect the health of the follicles.  Then decrease to twice a month to support you during the most challenging stage of your cycle (follicular/luteal/ovulation).

Men:  This time is used to affect life cycle of the gametes, improving the quality and quantity of sperm.  Although IVF/ICSI can bypass these issues to some extent, they are not a cure.  There’s much that can be done to improve blood flow, motility, morphology, and count.

Assisted Reproductive Therapy Adjunct only (IUI, IVF)
Acupuncture before and during the medicated phase of your IUI/IVF cycle.  Treatment is focused on regulating the hormones associated with follicular development and implantation, and increasing the blood flow to the uterus and ovaries.

Day of Transfer
Before and after your procedure to increase blood to the uterus and ovaries and support implantation.  Two treatments.

Before or after your procedure to increase blood to the uterus and ovaries and support implantation.  One treatment.

After Egg Collection
To ease pain and prepare the uterus for the embryo’s arrival.  One treatment within 2 days of collection.

During Pregnancy
Miscarriage Prevention
In the weeks following your transfer or positive pregnancy test, acupuncture is used to support your body’s ability to maintain the pregnancy.  Studies have shown that regular monitoring and reassurance decrease the incidence of miscarriage.

Supporting You Through a Healthy Pregnancy
Acupuncture provides an effective, drug-free therapy for many of the most common discomforts during pregnancy including nausea, fatigue, shortness of breath, insomnia, anxiety, muscle cramps, pain, allergies, small-for-date babies, malposition, and delayed labor.

Labor Preparation
Three weekly treatments starting around 37weeks are recommended to prepare the body for a smooth labor and delivery.

Postpartum
Labor and birth are strenuous work.  Treatment is focused at replenishing your energy and substance, enabling you to have the resources to support yourself and this new life.
